Tuttle Twins Episode 3: Pencils, Pirates, and Ice Cream People

Official Rating: G

Ethan the Tuttle twin is in the middle. It's an ice cream island with the Ice screamer queen, Chief Vanilla Bean, on the left and Coniferous, leader of the Children of the Cone, on the right.
Ethan helps the Sugar Children with the Invisible Hand.

The Tuttle Twins have a problem: their school art projects are due, but they don't have much time to finish them! When Derek the raccoon eats their supplies, they must rely on free trade of their extra remaining materials to get what they need, namely pencils. However, the only classmates that have them are Bruce the bully and Karinne. Is it better to just make a pencil by themselves? To answer this question, Grandma Gabby takes them on a time-and-space-jumping adventure that takes them to Scotland in the past, manufacturers in the present, and a beatific dimension populated by sugar children: the Ice Screamers and the Children of the Cone. Full of education, sugar, and invisible hands, Episode 3 is a typical Tuttle delight.

Good Parts: This episode focuses on the benefits and intricacies of free trade. It also has the usual double-take comments and hilarious Grandma antics(and jabs at Congress). Additionally, it introduces us to a new historical expert: Adam Smith, the generically named Scotsman who pretty much invented modern free market thinking. There's a neat new dimension which is the stuff that magical sugar dreams are made of. We also learn some new applications for knowledge juice. A Braveheart reference appears. They make a good point about TikTok, namely that it broadcasts your exact location(Seriously, it does this. Beware TikTok). Fun moments of characters breaking the fourth wall occur.

Religion: Apparently the space pirates worship potato chips in a can.

Violence: Space pirates chase the Tuttles through the galaxy twice. Ethan blasts them with a pizza cannon. Grandma runs over Copernicus with her wheelchair. Bruce puts signs on Ethan's back that invite kicking and tripping. The owner of a restaurant in Scotland throws things at Adam Smith for insulting his food(see Language below). A war almost happens between the Ice Screamers and the Children of the Cone. During that scene Grandma also has to stop Derek from killing for sport.

Sexual Content: None, unless you count Grandma calling Adam Smith "a real charmer."

Language: Adam Smith says that someone's food looks like cat puke, provoking an argument with the owner of the restaurant. Some creative insults appear, such as "Miss Stalin."

Supernatural: Spells are mentioned. Note, though, that the term may mean different things in different dimensions. Stay completely clear of them on this planet, though.

Other: Derek eats art supplies and burps, provoking Ethan to wonder how he's not dead. But "are raccoons ever really alive?" Adam Smith mentions seeing a man on a trampoline in a kilt. He also swipes people's ideas. Bruce puts another sign that says, "ask me about my dead goldfish" which upsets Ethan. The turbo encabulator dies, but it's just a part of the time machine. There are some lore discrepancies which probably no one will notice(such as why was the time machine able to function for a VERY long time after Adam Smith drank the knowledge juice?).

Summary: The third episode of the Tuttle Twins teaches the great principles of spontaneous order and free trade in a way that ensures both entertainment and education! It's a great watch which no one in the family will regret.
