One of Disney's most delightful films, Enchanted warms the heart and sharpens the sense of the beautiful like few others. It tells the story of a princess named Giselle, an archetypical fairy-tale princess who lives in the 2-D world of Andalasia. She meets a prince named Edward and they immediately decide to marry the next morning. However, his evil stepmother Narissa does not want to relinquish control of the throne, so on the day of the wedding she pushes Giselle through a teleportation well to real-world New York City. There, Giselle meets a cynical divorce lawyer named Robert, who is about to remarry, and his daughter, Morgan. Over the course of the movie, she charms him out of his pessimistic attitude and into a fuller appreciation of the good in everything. Many Andalasians arrive in New York as well, first Edward, then the evil queen's attendant Nathaniel, and finally the evil queen herself. She tricks Giselle into eating a poisoned apple and, when the latter recovers thanks to true love's kiss, becomes a dragon and battles the good guys in an epic climax. Of course the aforementioned good guys win.[spoiler alert] (Giselle marries Robert, and Edward goes back to Andalasia with Nancy, Robert's former fiancé, and they get married too.) As appropriate to a fairy tale, they all live happily ever after.

Good parts: Enchanted is truly enchanting. With its gorgeous visuals, highly amusing jokes, and its positive message, it will undoubtedly charm its viewers. There are some really lovely songs, too.

Violence: Fairy tales almost always take place in a medieval setting, so there is some swordplay(with a bus). The evil queen's attendant, Nathaniel, is very mean to Pip the chipmunk. The evil queen herself becomes a dragon and fights the heroes on top of the Empire State Building(What is it with New York and giant monsters?). No blood appears.

Sexual Content: The whole movie is basically a rom-com, but in a light, innocent way as befits a fairy tale. It starts with a song about true love's kiss and a hasty romance ("We shall be married in the morning!"), but New York City kind of puts a damper on courtship for a short time. The closest thing to indecency is a simple contretemps when Giselle trips when coming out of the bathroom with only a towel on, falling on top of Robert just as Nancy comes in. Of course, she jumps to conclusions, but the whole matter is resolved at the end. In the (very distant) background of one of the scenes, a poster for a show called 'Chicago' has scantily clad women. Several fantasy ladies wear low-necked dresses. There is an abstract nude statue and Morgan and Giselle have a talk about fashion and how it's important to not let boys "get the wrong idea" because they "only want one thing."

Language: A bus lady is rather sassy and several instances of name-calling occur (i.e. "You lying murderous wretch"). Needless to say, do not repeat anything the wicked queen says, incantation or otherwise.

Other: Morgan swipes her dad's credit card to get Giselle some modern ballwear, two animals perform bodily functions at separate times, and the evil queen is a very frightening villain, particularly for younger audiences, using both force and feminine wiles. Some bad family relationships are shown between the her and the prince.

Summary: This movie is the pure essence of Disney! With a lovely depiction of the triumph of good over evil and how to balance romance with rationality, it seamlessly brings fairy tales into the modern world. Score: 10/10.
