Tuttle Twins Episode 2: War of the Worms

Writer: theelvenarchertheelvenarcher

Official Rating: G

The Tuttle Twins are off to Science Camp! Preparing to solve world hunger and to analyze the effects of high fructose corn syrup on raccoons, the twins instead have to grapple with the temptations of revenge and blowback. When Karinne, who is on the opposite team as them insults their team, the Yellow Protons think that they must take revenge on the Purple Electrons(Karinne’s team). Soon, this spirals into a huge revenge war, with squirrels, chemistry, and worms that look like historical figures all getting tied up in the cycle. It’s up to Grandma to introduce them to Ghandi and show them that “The way to have peace is for blowback to cease.”

Good Parts: This episode teaches that getting revenge only leads to more revenge and shows that returning good for evil is possible and preferred. There are lots of funny parts and the cinematography and character design is equally great. At the end is a catchy tune about the Golden Rule.

Religion: Ghandi says that he follows the principles of Hinduism and the teachings of Jesus.

Violence: The rival science camp teams get revenge on each other with various ways, including luring squirrels into the enemy’s cabin, ruining experiments with the old baking soda in ketchup trick, spreading itching powder, switching water with slime in the shower, blowing up the outhouse, melting gummy bears, and ultimately engaging in a battle royale which messes up everyone’s projects. Derek and the squirrel have fights over who drives the wheelchair and who is the Ghandi of Rodents. There are a few shots of the British abusing India. Two worm armies have a war, with injuries resulting. The Protons almost throw Copernicus into a lake. But no one dies and no graphic images are shown.

Sexual Content: Science camp is where Mr. and Mrs. Tuttle first had chemistry...lab. He apparently wasn't attractive for years. Mrs. Tuttle says he sure is now. Ethan and Karinne argue about whether protons and electrons (which are also their team names) repel or attract. Grandma nicknames Mohandas Ghandi as "My hot man Ghandi".

Language: Worm excretions are mentioned(scientifically). There are some mild insults, some not even meant to be perceived as such, like ”chumps“, Grandma has apparently said that one of the twins is cuter than the other. Napoleon Wormaparte says that he will put the other worms six feet under ground and not in the fun worm way.

Supernatural: None

Other: A squirrel gets startled by a car. Copernicus steals a stop sign, causing traffic chaos. Grandma experiences The Call of the Wild (by reading it) in the bushes. She also barbecues in front of Ghandi while he is fasting. Worms don’t have eyes. As of April 5, 2022, you can no longer watch on YouTube. You have to download the Angel studios app. Initial use is free and payment is optional. I used it to write a lot of this review and it served excellently. (#notsponsored, though)

Summary: This episode is wonderful by teaching alternatives to revenge and getting even. It raises excellent points which are useful in any situation, be it in the home or the international scene. Amid the great humor and plot are many valuable lessons on how to live. It is a worthy watch for all ages. Score 10/10
