Tuttle Twins Episode 9: Dumpsters and Disobedience

Writer: theelvenarchertheelvenarcher

Official Rating: G

Robbers beware! There's a new hero in town... Dark Dumpster Derek! With the power of garbage, he stops theft and rescues damsels in distress, but he has one weakness... a law that prohibits people under the age of 16 from running a film set. Ethan and Emily are making a short for the Young Talent Film Festival, but a crazy old codger called Herbert made the law and then calls the cops on them. What should they do: Stop filming and miss the deadline? Fortunately, Grandma has the solution: Show the twins that sometimes it's okay to civilly disobey the laws you disagree with!

Great Parts: This show educates about civil disobedience, when/how to do it and what could happen. There is a really funny song about (real) dumb laws around the U.S.

Violence: Dark Dumpster Derek beats up the bad guys, but it's just fisticuffs. The twins imagine themselves in jail with an enormous fellow inmate asking them what they're in for, thinks they shot their parole officer instead of a movie, and mentions that she's 'filmed' a lot of people too, Harriet Tubman is chased by slave catchers.

Sexual Content: Only the swimsuit portion of the Miss Geriatric Georgia pageant is mentioned.

Language: None

Other: Derek is, as usual, unpredictably fierce(Translation: jump scenes),

Summary: This episode is a great way to learn about something we should all recognize as an option: civil disobedience. While one must always exercise caution when civilly disobeying, when it is done right, it gets things done better than anything. Score 9/10
